What Is Fordite?
Fordite—often called "Detroit Agate"—isn't a natural gemstone. It's an extraordinary material created from decades of layered automotive paint that accumulated inside vehicle manufacturing plants.
As Jeeps moved through the paint process, overspray built up on racks and fixtures. Those layers were repeatedly baked until they became a solid mass of colorful automotive history. Today, each piece is carefully cut, shaped, and polished to reveal patterns that could never occur naturally.
